Sunday Celebration with Rev. Cheryl Mayes

Hooray for Inspired Imagination Grounded in Gratitude!

Our official time together is nearing its completion. Where did that year go?! What a privilege it has been to work with all of you as your Minister of Record!
Strange, but I feel like I want to give you all a pep talk to encourage you to keep on moving forward as Unity of North Kitsap! Are you recognizing the gifts you have been offering one another and our world? Your compassion and commitment to growing in spiritual understanding and service are inspiring!
So, here’s to all of you as we look back over the past year and celebrate all that is yet to come! With a grateful heart, Rev. Cheryl

After 38 years in ministry, first as a Presbyterian and then as a Unity minister, Rev. Cheryl Mayes retired from full-time ministry at Unity Spiritual Life Center in Yakima in 2018. After retiring, her intention was to be a Ministry Skills/Transitional Consultant for other Unity centers. She completed her Interim Ministry Network Certification at the beginning of 2019.  She also married Jackson Mayes in 2019. Two years later, after a new minister at Unity of Yakima didn’t work out, she became the part-time Minister of Record for the congregation she had once served. With fewer responsibilities and clear boundaries, she and the congregation have been working together collaboratively, discovering new energy and welcoming new people in these post-Covid days. In her free time, she and Jackson love to explore the Northwest by hiking, kayaking, and snowshoeing.
